Abstract

This experience report aims to analyze the contributions of active methodologies in Olympic Mathematics teaching within the Lyceum Olímpico – Núcleo de Formação Matemática, developed in Alto Alegre do Pindaré – MA. The initiative is based on the need to overcome traditional teaching practices centered on content transmission, promoting student protagonism, logical reasoning, and intellectual autonomy. The experience, initiated in 2025, involved elementary school students and integrated strategies such as structured mathematical games, collaborative problem solving, digital learning resources, and olympiad mock exams. Results indicated high student engagement, increased participation of initially shy students, improvement in mathematical argumentation, and greater fluency in mental calculation. As evidence of impact, students achieved medals in competitions such as OBMEP, Kangaroo Mathematics, OLITEF, and Mandacaru. It is concluded that the adoption of active methodologies in olympic training promotes meaningful learning and contributes to high-quality mathematical education.
