This study analyzes the use of technologies in religious tourism at a site in Belém, Pará, focusing on
current practices, challenges, and opportunities for innovation. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, combining a literature review with semi-structured interviews conducted with professionals in the religious tourism sector. Technologies already implemented—such as augmented reality—were identified as enhancing accessibility and visitor engagement. However, challenges such as cultural resistance, lack of infrastructure, and limited training hinder broader adoption. Although still at an early stage, the use of technologies shows great potential to enrich the tourist experience and support the digital preservation of religious heritage. The results offer practical insights for managers and professionals in the sector, highlighting ways to integrate technological innovations respectfully within religious contexts. Theoretically, the study contributes to the
discussion on religious tourism and points to future research on the impact of technology on visitor experience and public policy.
