Abstract

From Health Geography field, we present this experience report as an important step in contributing to dengue fever spatial distribution understanding in the municipality of Codó. Presents itself as problematic dengue fever persistence as a public health challenge, both nationally and locally. This study refers to activities developed in a research project pre-fieldwork phase that aims to describe dengue cases secondary data use for spatiality distribution study in Brazilian context. From  Health Geography perspective, it is possible to analyze different space aspects that are relevant to diseases occurrence and their implications for inhabitants lives  in different states and municipalities areas across the national territory. In this sense, we seek to understand  dengue fever problem in Maranhão and, in particular, in Codó municipality. Starting from secondary empirical data analysis, considering the cases number systematization over a given time period, associated with their spatial distribution, makes it possible to bring to light important reflections for debate on Health Geography  at the local level. As a result, we gained access to tables with data on dengue cases from 2017 to 2026. It was possible to gain insight into cases behavior and to create some   tables and graphs sketches that provided an initial disease reality view under study.
