Alfredo Taunay, a literate in search of overseas

Abstract

The object of this paper is the relationship between the trajectory of Alfredo Maria Adriano d’Escragnolle Taunay and the dissemination strategies of two of his works, namely, Inocência (1872) e La retraite de
Laguna (1871). Based on published written sources, we seek to expose the determinants of Taunay’s dispositional modeling, highlighting the fundamental traits related to the structuring of his relationship with
the world, the formation of his expectations and his literary strategies.
