Thispaperdevelopedadiscussionontheoreticalandmethodologicalproceduressuitablefor the sociological analysis of social groups. To do so, it started from the arguments of Norbert Elias and correlated them with some positions of other authors on the same subject. Therefore, it relied on the methodological resource of bibliographical review. The hypothesis we support derives from the idea thatthesociologicalmodelswehavetoanalyzesocialgroupsare,firstandforemost,partofalong-term social process that has shaped our ways of thinking and speaking, originating in the magical-mythical domains and the natural sciences, and, therefore, appears inadequate for the reflection and analysis of socialphenomena.Wereachedtheconclusionthatthecomplexityofsomemodernsociologicaltheories and the lack of understanding among researchers about which methodological instruments to use for the analysis of social groups, for example, derive, to a large extent, from theoretical and conceptual transpositions of the physical-chemical sciences. Finally, this work focuses on the study of methodological strategies for collecting and systematizing data related to research in the area of sociology.
