Coastal zones constitute dynamic and transitional environments, characterized by intense interactions between marine and terrestrial systems, exhibiting high vulnerability to anthropogenic pressures. In this context, tide pools are configured as "island habitats" formed by tidal dynamics, subjected to physicochemical variations that select organisms with specific adaptations. These ecosystems play a relevant ecological role, functioning as important models for evolutionary and biodiversity studies. On the coast of Maranhão, the biodiversity of tide pools is influenced by local factors, such as temperature and environmental heterogeneity, and by direct ecological processes, including competition and predation. Located within the Brazilian Amazonian Coast, the region presents high endemism and biogeographical importance. However, research focuses on urbanized areas of Maranhão Island, with an emphasis on ichthyofauna and the recording of non-native species. Impacts such as sewage discharge, solid waste, stormwater runoff, oil contamination, vehicle traffic, and noise pollution have compromised the integrity of these environments, affecting biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human health. Given this scenario, the need to strengthen coastal management is evident, aiming at environmental conservation and the maintenance of essential ecological processes.
