This text analyzes an interview given by João Anzanello Carrascoza in December 2025 with the aim of understanding the foundations of his narrative poetics, marked by lyricism, brevity, and an appreciation for the sensory experience of reading. It starts from the assumption that an interview with a writer constitutes a privileged discursive space for theoretical elaboration on literary practice itself. The method adopted consists of a qualitative and interpretative analysis of the author's responses, articulated with a theoretical framework focused on the relationships between prose and poetry, short narrative, and aesthetic experience, with emphasis on contributions by Octavio Paz and Massaud Moisés. The results show that Carrascoza's poetic training plays a central role in his prose writing, influencing the rhythm, verbal economy, and expressive intensity of his narratives. The analysis also demonstrates that the author conceives the short form as an aesthetic strategy that enhances silence, ellipsis, and the reader's active participation in the construction of meaning. Furthermore, an ethical conception of literature is observed, understood as a practice of deceleration, listening, and resistance to the logic of contemporary urgency. It is concluded that the interview reveals a coherent and consistent poetics, in which language and vital experience are inextricably linked, reaffirming literature as a space for sensitive reflection, encounter, and humanization.
